(More customer reviews)I am the only coffee drinker in the house and thought this would be big enough for me. I knew it was going to be small, but it was smaller than I expected! (it is a 12 oz. so think a "tall" at a Starbucks)
But, after adding three spoonfuls of coarsely ground coffee, the actual amount of coffee I get is even less (because of the coffee taking up space for the hot water) - I'd say this produces around 8 oz.
Lucky for me I don't drink coffee as strong as the instructions provide, so I just make the strong brew following the instructions, and add more hot water in my bigger mug. It does make good coffee, and the filter does a good job of keeping the ground coffee out of my cup/coffee.
One problem I had with the design is that in my previous experience with Bodum french presses, you could turn the lid so that the lid will "close" (meaning the part with the slits in the lid will not be next to the pouring part of the beaker) but with this lid and the way it fits with the handle of the french press, the lid won't budge. I pour my coffee out as soon as it's ready, but this could be a problem for some people.
