I wanted to entertain, but didn't want to pay a lot of money for dishes that wouldn't arrive in time. I bought these thinking, I'd order something else later. But once these arrived I was surprised by how much they matched our kitchen decor, and how beautiful they are. The picture just doesn't do them justice. They are more of a mauve/maroon color than red, the stand is really sturdy, and they wash great. We bought a pack of tiny silver spoons from Amazon that are perfect with this set. I would definitely recommend this product.
