(More customer reviews)This machine is useful only if you drink it from a foam cup or a preheated cup. If you dispense it into a porcelain cup or even double-walled glass, only the first sip is the proper temperature. After that, the espresso loses heat to the cup, and is no longer the ideal temperature to properly enjoy espresso.
To preheat the cup, we set the machine to lungo and preheat each cup before adding the coffee packet to the machine. This takes away some of the machine's speed advantage, but makes the machine more usable for us. We like to sip espresso slowly, and would like it to start out a little hotter so it will still be hot enough at the last sip.
If the temp setting were raised, preheating would not be necessary.
This is a small niggle, but some mornings, every second counts.
And, the coffee packets are pricey, so check before buying, as you will soon be paying more for the coffee than you paid for the machine. And, who can predict the frequency and amount of future price increases? All we know for sure is the price will go up and you will be at their mercy or throw away the machine.
With those two exceptions, it would be 5 stars.
